Vote
Tomorrow's election is the first presidential election that I will be able to vote in. It's something I have been waiting to do for 20 years and am so excited to finally have a say in who becomes our next president! But tomorrow's election isn't just for the president, depending on your state and county your ballot will also have several other things for you to vote on. These could be state representative, state constitutional amendments, or so many other things. With all these things on the ballot I think it is important to educate yourself on all the different sections.
Since I am registered to vote in Florida, but am currently in Texas for college, I got a mail-in ballot several weeks ago. I actually really enjoyed having a mail in ballot as I was able to look at the real ballot and do serious research over the course of a week to determine how I would vote. So if you have already voted, I hope you did your research. But if you haven't voted yet, before you go to the polling station tomorrow I think it is totally worth your time to sit down, look up what will be on your local ballot, and research each topic to educate your vote. It might seem like the presidential election is the only thing on that ballot that matters, and don't get me wrong it is super important, but the other things on your ballot are important as well.
I understand that lots of people are unhappy with the two candidates that we have running for president, and I am in that boat. But even if you don't totally love either candidate, voting is still super important. Your vote does matter, and an educated vote is important. The future of our country rests in what people put down on those papers and millions of people are going to be impacted in one way or another by the result.
So that is my task for you this week: VOTE! And once you have voted, my secondary challenge for the week is to prepare for the result. The election might be won by who you voted for or it might not, but at the end of the day whoever wins is going to be the president for the next 4 years. So, before the results even come in, I challenge you to make a promise with yourself that no matter who wins, you won't ruin any relationships with those who you are close to that might have voted for the other side. I have seen so many friendships and family members be torn apart over presidential elections, and it is truly sad. So whatever happens, keep those who are close to you close, and don't let the result of this election get in the way of those relationships.
Stay Motivated,
-Dan
