Making The Best Of It

Quarantine...

What a wild thing.

I think the part of all this that is the most stressful and anxiety producing is all the uncertainty that is involved. No one knows how long this is going to last, whether it is getting better or worse, or what they should be doing other than “social distancing.” Also, social distancing is its own kinda crazy concept. Is it ok to see my friends? Is it not? Is it safe to order take out from my favorite restaurant? There are lots of questions that people want answers to. But the unfortunate part is that these answers really don’t exist.

It is human nature to want to know everything before making decisions, but right now we don’t have that luxury.

This pandemic is a much larger example of the point I am trying to make, but sometimes we just have to accept uncertainty and make the best of it. Maybe you don’t absolutely love the people you are quarantined with but it’s probably in your best interest to deal with it and play a board game with them.

Life often deals out hands that are unideal, to say the least. And right now I think many people are thinking that way. For some they are mad about who they are stuck with, but for many, such as college students like myself, the worst part about all this is who we won’t see for a very long time. But thank God for technologies like Skype and zoom and Netflix Party (allows people who aren’t together to watch Netflix media together in real time - highly recommend) that make these weird times just a little bit easier.

So that is my challenge to you this week. Try to connect with some people that you’ve been distanced from because of the quarantine. That can be a FaceTime call or a Netflix Party or really any way you can think of to just make the best of this crazy time.

Stay Motivated,

-Dan
