New Beginnings
Welcome to 2021! 2020 is finally over and a new year is here! I’m not going to lie, that’s kinda a weird thing to type - “2021” - it just doesn’t feel real to me yet. But just like any new year, right now is a great time for new beginnings.
Let me explain what I mean by that. As I’ve said in past newsletters, I’m not normally a big New Years resolutions guy; I feel like resolutions could and should be made at any time, not just at the beginning of a new year. However, something I realized recently is that new years always trigger some sort of mind shift in most people. There’s something psychological that happens in our brains every time a new year comes around. People love setting goals in terms of years. So long story short, whether you’ve made resolutions or goals for 2021 or not - there is an undeniable sense that this is a sort of new begging.
No one knows what 2021 will hold. For some people, that might be a little scary, while for others it might be exciting. Wherever you fall on that scale - I think recognizing that this year is new, and what it holds could be literally anything - is a very healthy thing to do. Acknowledge all that 2021 could possibly hold and lean into hope. What I mean by that is as we get this new year started, lean into the hope that it could be a good year for you. I am a big believer that a person’s mindset is highly important.
So that is my challenge to you this week: recognize that this year is a new beginning. Whatever you want this year to hold for you - this is the time to start acting towards that goal. No matter what your stance on resolutions is - even if you are kinda of against them like me - a new year is a great excuse to set new goals.
Stay Motivated,
- Dan
